PSA National Delegates’ Congress

The PSA biennial national delegates’ congress is being held in Wellington on 23 and 24 September 2008.

Representation
Representation at Congress is on the basis of 1 representative per
500 members (or part thereof) per sector, plus 2 runanga
representatives per sector, and an additional staff group
representative. Representation will be on the basis of fee paying
membership as at 31 March 2008.
Remits
In accordance with PSA Rules 43 and 44, the business of the Congress
includes consideration of any remits proposed from sectors, the
runanga, secretariat or the executive board.
The call for remits was issued on 3 March 2008 and closed on 20 June 2008.
Election of president
There will be an election for president at the national delegates’
congress. The current president, Keith Gutsell, has served two
consecutive terms and is not eligible for election.
Two nominations have been received:
Georgina Kerr, convenor of Te Rūnanga o Ngā Toa Āwhina
Paula Scholes, convenor of the environment sector committee and of the national science committee.
Life membership
The executive board has called for nominations from members for life membership of the PSA.
Life membership can be granted by the national delegates’ congress
to “members or former members who have demonstrated long and
distinguished service in support of the principles and objects of the
PSA”.
