Principal Analyst at WorkSafe NZ
Kia ora! I'm Angele, a Principal Analyst at WorkSafe NZ.
I am a gay / lesbian woman (she/her pronouns). I live in Wellington with my wife and cats.
I grew up in rural North Queensland. After university, I started by working life as a community development worker, primarily working with rural communities and people with a disability.
I moved to New Zealand in 2006 and was granted citizenship in 2012. I have over 20 year experience in a range of public sector organisations and roles.
I am a lifelong union member and have believe that social justice can only be achieved when all workers’ voices are heard.
I am committed to promoting workplace diversity and inclusion so that all employees have a sense of belonging. I co-founded the Ministry for the Environment Women's Group and represented the Ministry on the Government Women's Network and the State Services Commission Diversity Network. In 2019, I helped to establish Te Rōpū Atuapiko, the WorkSafe Rainbow Network. I am current the Rōpū’s representative on the Cross Agency Rainbow Network (CARN).
As a Health and Safety Representative I have been able to use my engagement and facilitation skills to improve the level of worker participation in issues identification and problem solving.
I am looking forward to giving back to the union movement and our rainbow communities through my role with Out@PSA.
