Catrin Susser

Community Social Worker for Middlemore Hospital

Catrin.susser@middlemore.co.nz

May I introduce myself: I’m a mum of two awesome kids Maija and Junis, an enthusiastic crocheter and body boarder and in love with my beautiful wife Andrea. I’m originally from Germany and have been in NZ since 2008.

I am also proud to be a graduate of Unitec Waitakere Campus’ Bachelor of Social Practice and therefore trained in unpacking dynamics of power through a post structural lens. Hence it is important to me that within our wonderful rainbow community we need to awhi those who are the most marginalised in order to achieve sustainable progress for all.

I believe that true equality can start with a quiet yet powerful act of ‘holding space’ for one another and I hope that I can bring my willingness to listen and be a friend to my role as an Out@PSA committee member.

Further, as a mum I am sensitive to issues arising for LGBTQI+ families due to the prejudice that children of LGBTQI+ can be exposed to.

Please reach out, I’d love to connect.
