Catrin Susser

Community Social Worker for Middlemore Hospital

Catrin.susser@middlemore.co.nz

Hello everyone. My name is Cat (short for Catrin). I live in Pukekohe with my wife and two kids. I’m originally from Germany and I’m a community health social worker for Middlemore hospital.

It has been a pleasure to contribute to the Out@PSA network over the last couple of years and would love to continue contributing.

As I mother of two young children I am sensitive to the problems and stigma, but also the joy and connection that is experienced within rainbow (blended) families and therefore I can speak from this place in my contact with work colleagues and clients. I am furthermore interested in the issue of intersectionality as I am married to a person with hidden disability (brain injury)and our daily live is lived at the interface of at least two areas of stigma invisible two those who are not dealing with this in their own lives.

I am a friendly, social and joyous person who enjoys engaging with people, yet calm and sincere when called to listen and hold space for others. I hope I can bring these attributes to my work as a committee member for Out@PSA.
