Sylvan Spring

Policy Analyst, Te Puni Kōkiri

Kia ora! I’m a rangatahi fresh out of university, and keen to bring my activist mindset and passion for supporting people’s holistic health to Out@PSA.

I am a non-binary, trans-masculine queer person (they/them pronouns), and I would like to bring more of a non-binary voice to the table, as voices of people outside the binary are often excluded in queer communities, let alone in wider society. I am interested in evolving the public sector’s capability to engage with trans people, both from a service and an internal perspective, spreading knowledge of how we can best manaaki rainbow whānau across government and out into wider society.

I’m also a keen hiker, an anxious bird dad, and a big fan of all kinds of fiction, yoga, holistic healing, a good pop banger and trashy lifestyle TV. I live in Newtown with my two budgies Milk and Bear, and spend most of my time entertaining/cleaning up after them. I’m blessed to be a part of a group of proud, silly, supportive trans, queer and takatāpui friends, and the hope behind all the work that I do for my community is that all rainbow people are able to find such a nourishing sense of belonging.
