Sector Rep - Local Government
I am a Tenancy Manager for Dunedin City Council, managing 1/3 of the community housing portfolio of 940 units. I have been in this role for almost 5 years, and a PSA member and delegate for 4 and a half years.
In my time with the PSA so far, I have been a member of our DCC bargaining team for three rounds, I spent two years as a convenor with PSAY where I learnt a lot in a short space of time about all things union, and for the last 18 months I have been on the Local Government sector committee as the youth representative, which is also how I was lucky enough to come on to the PSA women’s network committee one of the alternating Local Government Representatives. I have also attended a whole bunch of amazing events and have met so many inspiring people who have helped me along the way and given me the courage to stand up and take on all these things that I never thought I could do.
After experiencing a few things in my early working life, I am passionate about everyone having equal opportunities at work regardless of gender, ethnicity or their place in society. I'm glad that I have been able to learn some invaluable things through our union, and look forward to learning more and helping others, just as so many have done for me.
