Why are we striking?

After six months of negotiations

We have agreed to a range of issues (including pay rises and a new Degree-based salary scale) but the DHB’s:

  1. Haven't made a formal offer
  2. Want to introduce 7-day services using existing staff/budget
  3. Want to grandparent weekend rates and reduce T2 to T1.5 for new staff

Members voted to take strike action

It was clear we have to start low-level strike action to get:

  1. A formal offer
  2. A fair transition to 7-day services with sufficient staffing
  3. Protect conditions for everyone

 We didn't make this decision lightly.
