Te Tira Hauora is a national committee of eight regional delegates from the four areas in the PSA’s DHB sector, and a Rangatahi representative. The purpose of Te Tira Hauora is to:

  • Represent the cultural and industrial interests of Māori PSA members in the DHB Sector
  • Influence policy pertaining to Māori workforce
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders
  • Develop, implement and regularly evaluate strategic goals/priorities
  • Provide knowledge, expertise and information on cultural issues of common interests
  • Lead and facilitate sector hui
  • To ensure Māori representation in the DHB sector committee and in the PSA’s Komiti of Te Rūnanga o Ngā Toa Awhina (or TRONTA)



Te Tira Hauora is made up of eight Māori enterprise delegates representing four regions Te Rau Manaaki, Te Piringatahi, Ngā Tai Kokiri and Te Waipounamu, and a Rangatahi rep. 

Tuakana Teina are responsible for leadership and guidance. The newly appointed Rangatahi rep is responsible for making contact with Māori youth within the Sector committee, feeding back into TRONTA through the reps attending the TRONTA hui.

Te Tira Hauora hui are structured to attend:

  • Hui twice annually March and November with the venue confirmed by the PSA Organising Administrator.
  • Tele/video conference bi-monthly
  • Hui Taumata biennially
  • PSA Congress biennially

In the event where a member cannot attend any of the above meetings then they must appoint a proxy and notify the PSA Organising Administrator.
