I work as Senior Library Assistant for Te Māpuna | Library Connect at Auckland Libraries, and have been a rūnanga delegate for Auckland Council for the past 4 and a half years. As a rūnanga delegate for Libraries, I will be continuing the work to develop increased opportunities for our Māori workers within our organisation.
I am putting my name forward for another term as Sector Māngai because I want to see Ngā Kaupapa embedded in our organisations and our Union. In my leadership role, I also want to continue to work on projects which create a better working life for our Māori whānui within Te Kāwanatanga-ā-rohe.
I am passionate about ensuring the voice of our Māori members is heard within our workplaces, and I am a strong advocate for increased participation and opportunities for Māori, at all levels within the local government sector. My drive is also to achieve greater kotahitanga, to build and strengthen our relationships with each other, as Māori delegates and members.
I really support the belief that if we stand together, as Māori, we can make a difference in our working life.
