Nga Puhi, Tauranga Moana, Te Rarawa. I am a workplace delegate at Plant and Food Research(PFR) in Palmerston North, where I have been for the last 12 years.

I am also a Māori enterprise delegate and a member of Te Runanga o Ngā Toa Awhina komiti. My role at PFR is Stakeholder Relationships  Manager- Māori which involves working predominantly with Māori organisations, be it Iwi, hapū, whanau or business, to realise the full potential of their asset. This work may involve land, soil and water assessments , understanding climatic conditions and crop  suitability. A key focus is on building capability, capacity and  a sustainable economy for these orgaisations.

I have a desire through my role on the Sector committee and Te Runanga o Ngā Toa Awhina to grow Māori in the workplace. There are many avenues in which this can be achieved. Through better pay equity for lower paid workers, recognition of tikanga and kawa and the unique skills Māori bring to the workplace and increased opportunities for personal development.
