It depends on the time of the year you are looking at booking, for the Summer School Holiday period we run a ballot (closes in August each year).

Peak periods tend to book up three to four months in advance.
All school holidays and public holidays are regarded as peak times. The demand for our homes at these times increases dramatically, and early bookings are advisable.
Holiday home payment is required:
(a) One month before occupancy if the booking is made more than one month before occupancy
(b) Within ten working days before the first day of occupancy if the booking is made less than 30 days before occupancy
(c) Immediately for bookings made within 10 days of occupancy.
If payment is not made when due, PSA reserves the right to cancel the booking without notice to allow another member’s booking to be confirmed.

You need to take your own sheets, pillowcases, towels, tea towels, toilet paper and cleaning agents.
Beds, blankets, pillows and duvets are all supplied at the units.
Yes, these units belong to you as a member. One way we can keep the cost of these units down is by reducing the cost of servicing the units. Please refer to the check list on the wall in each unit before leaving to see all areas have been addressed.
There is a cleaning service offered at all sites costing $20-$50 per unit. If you require this service please call the relevant caretaker at least 24 hours before departure.
Failure to clean the unit when departing will result in a cleaning bill being sent to you and a possible ban from future use.
Yes, as long as it's not a peak period you can book two units per member. In the peak times you can only book one unit.
Yes, though we would prefer you to be an occupant of the home. The member who makes the booking has overall responsibility for the home. All occupants need to understand the terms and conditions of occupancy.
No, if you are wanting a booking in the off-peak periods you can book anywhere from one night onwards. Peak periods, such as school or public holidays you can only book one to a maximum of seven nights.
You can make payment either over the phone or online by Visa or MasterCard. You can also pay by cheque or by direct credit into our bank account. All the payment options are provided by email when a booking is made.
You can pay online through Payment Express either at time of booking or at a later date per our payment policy. Links to Payment Express are provided on all holiday home emails.
The New Zealand Public Service Association (PSA) credit card information security policy:
The PSA uses the Payment Express Payment Gateway for its Holiday Home online credit card transactions. Payment Express processes online credit card transactions securely for thousands of merchants globally, providing a safe and secure online payment service.
- The PSA does not have access to your full card number, this credit card payment is secured by Payment Express
- Payment Express have bank grade security. All transaction details are stored in their PCI-DSS compliant Data Centre
- Payment Express Software is certified with over 200 banks globally

This is not allowed due to the damage it causes to the grass and also the overcrowding and strain on the holiday home facilities.
To give all members an equal chance in using the PSA holiday homes during the busy summer school holiday period we hold an allocation exercise our Summer ballot.
Next Ballot Period: Friday 18 December 2020 to Sunday 31 January 2021.
Ballot opens: 8.30am : Friday 1 May 2020
Ballot closes: 5.00pm : Friday 7 August 2020
You will be emailed a feedback form 3 days after your stay. You can also complete a feedback form online. We encourage your comments, whether good or bad, to help increase the standard of the homes or better the facilities and service we provide.
Yes, all our homes in the South Island have a cot and highchair. The North Island homes have them available - please request them from PSA holiday homes when making the booking either online or by phone. You will need to take your own cot blankets.
No, no pets are permitted at the PSA holiday homes. Most of all we want to make the stay comfortable for all members who may be using the homes during and after your stay. Guide dogs are permitted.
No, the PSA holiday homes are smoke-free. You will need to go outside to smoke and use the ashtrays if provided. Please be considerate of other members and move away from the buildings.
A cancellation fee equal to one day’s rental will apply in the following cases:
(a) In the event that notice of cancellation is received less than ten working days before the first day of occupancy or
(b) If payment has not been made, the member is still liable for the cancellation fee.
If notice of cancellation is received ten working days or more before the first day of occupancy a full refund will be made.

Once we have received payment you will receive an email which will either contain a key code for the security key box or the address for key pick up.
Yes, we provide off-street parking for one vehicle per unit only. If you require parking for boats or trailers please contact PSA holiday homes on 0800 10 30 90 or the relevant caretaker to confirm if additional parking is available.
There are no telephones in any of our units.
However, there is good cellphone coverage at all our homes and free WIFI.
Please contact the caretaker as soon as possible while you are staying in the unit. They are only a phone call away and live near to the homes. If it's something not requiring immediate attention on site, you can call PSA holiday homes office during business hours on 0800 10 30 90.
No. All costs are covered by holiday home income.
