2015 is the year to become a delegate
All of the sectors we’ve spoken to so far have identified the need for more young delegates, and for greater youth representation on the sector committees.
This year, we’d love to see more PSA Youth members put their hand up to become delegates. Delegates are the heart of the PSA. Delegates are elected by members as union leaders in their workplace and are the first point of contact for information and advice. In addition to work sites, delegates are eligible to sit on national committees, sector committees, at congress and on the board.
The PSA has a comprehensive, all expenses paid development programme for delegates which is designed to provide you with the skills and confidence to be an effective delegate. Courses can be completed on paid work time and cover things like the delegate role, employment legislation, representing members, and workplace communication.
You can stand for a delegate role at the annual members meeting at your worksite this year. But don’t wait until then – approach a delegate now to let them know you’re interested!
Already a delegate? We’d love to see more young delegates stand for sector committees. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you think you might be keen.
