Gender and Sexual Diversity at Work
Report back from PSAY Hui participant-led workshop (Caleb Gordon)
The focus of this session was looking at strategies to support people who are gender and sexually diverse in the workplace. Participants had a look through the Out@work Gender and Sexual Diversity at Work resource, a kit developed by the Council of Trade Unions (CTU) with a lot of input from the PSA. This is a living document that we seek to keep relevant.
We had a think about terminology, and created space for questions to be asked and misconceptions examined. Discussions were thoughtful, diverse and at times, uncomfortable, but that was the point. The feedback was really positive. Members were excited about the opportunity to use the resource to create safer and happier workplaces. They also identified opportunities to use the resource to empower their clients, and for their own personal growth outside of work.
If you are interested in issues of gender and sexual diversity at work, please join the Out@PSA network. You can find out more about the resource on the website. You’re also welcome to get in touch with Caleb via email. I know the resource pretty well and would also be happy to connect you with contacts in your region.
