PSAY April Pānui
Welcome to our latest pānui and Happy Easter from your Convenor Team.
HUI ALERT!!
There is less than 4 months to go until PSAY Hui 2019!
Expressions of interest for Hui will be sent out in early May. Keep an eye out in your emails, this is a PSAY event you won’t want to miss.
With Hui not far away, our PSAY convenors along with PSA communications team have been hard at work with refreshing our PSAY logo. Check out this month’s newsletter banner for the new design. We have some awesome new swag (merchandise) ready for Hui and we thought why not get the hype for Hui started early with a Facebook competition.
To be in to WIN: sum up in 50 words or less, who your Union Hero is and why. Make sure to include a photo of them as well and post it on our PSAY Facebook page with one of the below hashtags.

Youth Leadership Training
Since our last edition, we have had Youth Leadership training delivered in Wellington, Whangarei and Waikato. They were 3 great training sessions, and we are looking forward to running more at future dates. It’s an awesome opportunity, one you don’t want to miss.

RockENROL Opportunity (Auckland) and Local Government Elections (Everywhere!)
This year is local government election year. If you’re on the electoral role, you’re eligible to vote for your local councillors (city and district councils plus DHBs etc). You want to be involved and informed about local government because they decide how things like public transport, public facilities and parking will run in your city and townships.
Voting will be open from September 20 - 12 October and you can check your enrolment deets here on the Electoral Commission website If you want to run for local government, you can do so from July 19 until August 16.
Rock Enrol is a youth movement which “Exists to engage, inspire, inform and activate political power for young people in Aotearoa.”
Over the next couple of months, RockENROL will be:
- Hiring a Local Election Project Coordinator in Auckland ;
- Working with the organisers of Festival For The Future to organise training for young people wanting to run for local elections; and
- Working with a bunch of awesome young people to create 'how-to' guides that will help young people enrol, vote and run.
If you're based in Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland and you're looking for paid work to help unleash the political power of young people, we'd love to hear from you!
