Results – 8 young members elected to sector committees!
The PSA sector committee elections are almost complete.
It is very exciting to report that eight PSA Youth members have been elected to sector committee positions! That’s an 8x increase on previous numbers! Congratulations to:
Chantalle Smith (DIA)
Candi Johnston (Department of Corrections)
Community Public Services
Vanessa Jensen (MASH Trust)
Claudia Maaka (Ngati Porou Hauora)
Donna Wealleans (Healthcare Holdings)
Kelly Cotter (Worksafe NZ)
David Do (Tertiary Education Commission) – also elected Deputy Convenor of the committee
Eleanor Haggerty-Drummond (Wellington City Council)
We’re stoked that PSA Youth are now much better represented on sector committees, but there’s still work to do to ensure that this continues, and to reach proportional numbers.
Last week PSAY reported to the Executive Board on how the year went and plans for 2016. We also asked the Board and sector committees to formally consider how to ensure youth representation in future, particularly thinking about their election processes, having a PSAY observer on sector committees, and creating a PSAY-specific role on the committee. We will report back on progress in the new year.
