Social Workers union training - Auckland & Dunedin
The PSA Social Work Action Network Invites you to two days of union education for Auckland & Dunedin social work members.
24 and 25 May, PSA Office 155 New North Road Eden Terrace
1 and 2 June, PSA Office 30 London st Dunedin
We will begin by building on member's social work knowledge and looking at how the social work values of upholding justice and human rights correlate with the work that trade unions do in advocating for social and economic justice for their members and across society. By the end of the course participants will have gained an understanding of workplace issues affecting social workers across different fields of practice, organising unionism and techniques for building participation and networking, the role of campaigns and advocacy and be ready to take an active role within the SWAN network and/or the wider PSA /union movement.
The workshops will be run by SWAN organisers Amy Ross and Debbie Taylor who are Union Organisers with the PSA and also registered social workers.
The course will attract Employment Relations Education Leave as organising in our Industries Course No: 526 - NZCTU and affiliated unions.
We have some capacity to support travel to this education for those who live out of the area. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Expressions of interest will close by the end of day on May 2, 2017
We will get back to you to confirm your place by the May 4, 2017
We believe this will be a great opportunity for networking with other social workers across the PSA and exploring how we can work together through our union and builds on successful courses run last year.
