Zero hours contract win (woohoo!) – and next steps
You may have heard the news that unions have had a massive win in the fight against zero hour contracts.
After sustained pressure from Unite Union and its members in negotiations, as well as sustained pressure from other union members, consumers and the wider public, Restaurant Brands (KFC, Pizza Hut and Starbucks) have agreed to stop using zero hour contracts!
Congrats to Unite and everyone who contributed to this win by signing a petition, sharing something on Facebook, boycotting stores and the like.
There is still work to do to convince other organisations to stop using zero hour contracts. Unite has set up a template letter on their website so that you can easily email McDonald’s, Burger King and Wendy’s demanding an end to this unfair practice.
