The PSA is celebrating the passing of the Conversion Practices Prohibition Act last night.
Out@PSA member Caleb Gordon says, “I’m so proud to live in a country that understands that ‘praying the gay away’ is never appropriate and is, in fact, abuse.
Knowing that it is now illegal to abuse young queer people in this way, and that all but 8 MPs voted for the ban makes my community feel such hope for the future.
The PSA is an inclusive and bicultural union that embraces and celebrates all our members, in all our varied and wonderful differences.
The conversion practices ban will mean that in time that our identities as members of the rainbow community, as union members, as friends and as family won’t include this particular trauma.”
