He aha te mea nui o te ao? He Tangata, He Tangata, He Tangata!

What is the most important thing in this world? It is people! It is people! It is people.

Te Rūnanga o Ngā Toa Āwhina is comprised of all Māori members who identify as Māori within the PSA. By identifying your ethnicity as Māori, you automatically become members of Te Runanga o Ngā Toa Āwhina. This allows us to stay connected, network with each other and communicate with Māori across the union.

Our members are represented by Te Kōmiti o Te Rūnanga o Ngā Toa Āwhina to promote the interests of Māori members and to ensure Māori have a voice across all levels of the governance structure. Te Rūnanga is lead by our Tuakana and Tēina and guided by our Kuia and Kaumātua of the PSA, while supported by a team of sector māngai and rangatahi representatives that strives to enable the strategic goals and direction of the union.

Te Kōmiti o Te Rūnanga o Ngā Toa Āwhina is a part of the PSA’s Governance structure that is represented by Sector Māngai and Rangatahi Māngai responsible to provide leadership across the five sectors:

  • The Public Service Rātonga mahi a te Kāwanatanga
  • The District Health Boards Pōari Hauora ā Rohe
  • The State Sector Rāngai Tūmatanui
  • Local Government Kāwanatanga ā Rohe
  • Community Public Services Rātonga mahi ā Hāpori

The PSA is committed to honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi across the governance structures and within the organisation. Te Kōmiti o Te Runanga o Ngā Toa Āwhina on behalf of their membership is committed to advancing Te Tiriti o Waitangi through providing a Te Ao Māori perspective and enhancing a Tikanga Māori, Te Reo Māori and Matauranga Māori approach using Ngā Kaupapa as guiding principles across our workplaces and our union.
