Equal Pay Organiser

The PSA Te Pūkenga Here Tikanga Mahi is the largest union in New Zealand, Aotearoa and is an innovative and dynamic organisation employing over 200 staff throughout New Zealand. The PSA has a clear agenda regarding Equity in the Workplace (Mana Taurite I ngā Wāhimahi). The Equal Pay Organiser position has been established to work on this agenda including a key campaigning role, providing assistance with strategic organising, and assisting the wider union movement pay equity strategy. Our preference is that this position is based in Wellington.

We are looking for someone with:

• Experience in planning and running campaigns

• Experience in organising

• Understanding of how unions work and their role

• Excellent communications skills

The PSA Te Pūkenga Here Tikanga Mahi is pro Te Tiriti O Waitangi as an organisation and the work we do. Knowledge of te reo and tikanga Māori will therefore be an advantage.

The salary range for this position is $92,695 to $115,466.  New employees enter the range on a starting rate based upon previous relevant experience and commensurate with internal relativities. Progression to the top of the scale is by regular and automatic service steps.

Policy Advisor

• Full time, 1 Year Fixed Term

• $100,285 - $134,450 depending on experience

• Wellington-based

• Develop policy and strategy for Aotearoa’s biggest union

We are seeking an experienced analyst to join our 5-person team who take a strategic focus to supporting the political and industrial priorities of the union providing policy development, advice, information gathering, and developing insights and analysis. You will have a portfolio of areas of focus and will write policy papers and submissions for the union’s leadership. You will be skilled in data analysis, or quantitative and qualitative research skills and an awareness of the role campaign-focused research plays in advancing strategic organisational goals. National Policy Leader

• Full time, Permanent

• $119,269 to $130, 661 depending on experience

• Manage a team of 5 full-time staff

We are looking for an experienced policy and research professional to lead and mentor our 5-member policy unit. In this newly established role you will direct the work of the team who build the union’s knowledge base to support our industrial and political campaigns. As a senior leader within New Zealand’s largest union you will be alert to opportunities to use the full range of policy analysis, strategic insights and research to increase our influence and achieve results for our 95,000 members who work in central and local government, and in public health and community-based (NGO) support services.
