The Review into the Future for Local Government looked at how our system of local government could evolve into the future.
An independent panel appointed by the Minister of Local Government released its draft report in late 2022, after talking to a whole range of people – including councils and the PSA. Submissions on the draft report closed on 28 February 2023.
The panel's final report was released on 21 June 2023. You can read the PSA's press release about it here.
Government decisions about how to respond to the review's recommendations will happen after the 2023 general election.
