The Review into the Future for Local Government looked at how our system of local government could evolve into the future.
An independent panel appointed by the Minister of Local Government released its draft report in late 2022, after talking to a whole range of people – including councils and the PSA. Submissions on the draft report closed on 28 February 2023.
The panel's final report is expected in June 2023, after which time the Government will consider what action to take in response to the panel's recommendations.
