The PSA Women’s Network and Out@PSA both made submissions on the Human Rights (Incitement on Ground of Religious Belief) Amendment Bill.
Both networks supported the Bill’s intent to provide protection from hate speech on the grounds of religious belief. However, they argued for the inclusion of additional groups who are commonly the target of hate speech but are currently excluded from this legislation (eg, women, LGBTQIA+ people and people with disabilities).
